"Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not;
for of such is the kingdom of God."--March 10: 14.

Prayer Before the Crucifix

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself upon my knees in Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul I pray and beseech Thee that Thou wouldst impress upon my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity, with true contrition for my sins, and a firm purpose of amendment, while with deep affection and grief of soul, I ponder within myself, and mentally contemplate Thy five Most Precious Wounds, having before my eyes that which David, the Prophet, spoke of Thee, my Jesus: "They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones."    (Indulgence: 10 years)

The Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen

The Our Father (The Lord's Prayer)

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Consecration to Mary

My Queen! my Mother! I give thee all myself, and, to show my devotion to thee, I consecrate to thee my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my entire self. Wherefore, O loving Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, defend me, as thy property and possession.

Indulgence of 500 days; plenary indulgence on the usual conditions, if this act of oblation is repeated every day for a month. (340)

Hail Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Indulgence of three years. Raccolta 339. Plenary indulgence once a month for the daily recitation of this prayer.

Prayer to the Blessed Virgin

THOUGHT. When you are in trouble or want something reasonable, dear child, you go to your mother. She can comfort you or give you what you want, is it not so? You have another Mother, holy, tender and kind. She was the Mother of the Holy Child Jesus, and she is called the Queen of Heaven. Think how powerful she is. And she loves you dearly, she loves all good children and likes to hear their prayers. Go often to that kindest of mothers, she will grant you what you ask.

O Blessed Virgin, Mother of Jesus, be my Mother also, make me thy child. I love Thee with all my heart. Thou wert so kind, so tender to the little Child Jesus: love me too, watch over me. Make me good and kind, bless me now and always. In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

How to Say the Rosary

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, and in in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into Hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages; God of God, light of light, true God of true God; begotten, not made: consubstantial with the Father; by Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation, came down from Heaven AND WAS INCARNATE BY THE HOLY GHOST OF THE VIRGIN MARY, AND WAS MADE MAN. He was crucified also for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried. And the third day He arose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven. He sitteth at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again with glory, to judge the living and the dead; and His kingdom shall be no end. And in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, Who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, Who, together with the Father and the Son, is adored and glorified: Who spoke by the Prophets. And One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the remission of sins. And I expect the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen

Prayer In Praise of the Trinity

With our whole heart and voice we glorify Thee, we praise Thee, we bless Thee, God the Father unbegotten, the only-begotten Son, the Holy Ghost, the Paraclete, the holy and undivided Trinity.

For Thou art great, and dost wonderful things: Thou alone art God. To Thee be praise, to Thee glory, to Thee thanksgiving forever and ever, O blessed Trinity!

(Roman Missal)

Litany of the Love of God
(Composed by Pope Pius VI, 1717 - 1799)

Lord have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us.
God the Father in heaven,
Have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the world,
Have mercy on us.
God, the Holy Ghost,
Have mercy on us.
Holy Trinity, one God,
Have mercy on us.

Thou Who art Infinite Love,
I love Thee, O my God. *

Thou Who didst first love me, *
Thou Who commandest me to love Thee, *
With all my heart,*
With all my soul, *
With all my mind, *
With all my strength, *
Above all possessions and honors, *
Above all pleasures and enjoyments, *
More than myself and all that belongs to me, *
More than all my relatives and friends, *
More than all men and angels, *
Above all created things in heaven or on earth, *
Only for Thyself, *
Because Thou art the sovereign Good, *
Because Thou art infinitely worthy of being loved, *
Because Thou art infinitely perfect, *
Even hadst Thou not promised me heaven, *
Even hadst Thou not menaced me with hell, *
Even shouldst Thou try me by want and misfortune, *
In wealth and in poverty, *
In prosperity and in adversity, *
In health and in sickness, *
In life and in death, *
In time and in eternity, *
In union with that love wherewith all the Saints and all the Angels love Thee in heaven, *
In union with that love wherewith the Blessed Virgin Mary loveth Thee, *
In union with that infinite love wherewith Thou lovest Thyself eternally, *

Let us pray:

My God, Who dost possess in incomprehensible abundance all that is perfect and worthy of love, annihilate in me all guilty, sensual, and undue love for creatures: kindle in my heart the pure flame of Thy love, so that I may love nothing but Thee or in Thee, until, being entirely consumed by holy love of Thee, I may go to love Thee eternally with the elect in Heaven, the country of pure love. Amen.

O good Jesus, hear me.
Hide me within Thy wounds.
Never Permit me to be separated from Thee.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
At the hour of my death, call me.
And bid me come to Thee,
That with Thy Saints,
I may praise thee, for everlasting ages. Amen.

Indulgence of 300 days

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartly sorry for having offended Thee; and I detest all of my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven and the pains of hell, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, Who art all good and deserving of all my love. THOUGHT. My dear child, God is truth. He hates a lie. The Holy Child Jesus never said what was not true. If you want to be His friend, you too will never tell a lie. Besides, a child who never does what is forbidden, is not tempted to tell a lie.

I will never tell a lie, for I love Thee so much, that I want to do all I can to please Thee. Help me, dear Holy Child, and I shall be frank, truthful in my words and in my answers.

Let us pray:

O Lord Jesus, Who didst vouchsafe so to annihilate the greatness of Thy Incarnate Divinity and most sacred Humanity, as to be born in time, and become a little child: grant that we may acknowledge infinite wisdom in the silence of a child, power in weakness, majesty in abasement; so that adoring Thy humiliations on earth, we may contemplate Thy glories in heaven. Who with the Father and the Holy Ghost livest and reignest, God, forever and ever. Amen.

By the Crib of the Holy Child Jesus

THOUGHT. Imagine the Holy Child in a little corner of the blessed stable of Bethlehem. His bed is a little straw. Mary and Joseph are standing by the Babe they adore. Ah, if you could hold the Child Jesus in your arms, if you could press Him to your heart! Tell Him you wish to, dear child, show Him you love Him, and say the following prayer:

O Sweet little Child Jesus, Thou didst come into this world in a stable. I see Thee a poor, weak, little Child, and yet Thou art the true God, the King of the universe. I adore Thee, little Child Jesus. Ah, if Thou wouldst only come and rest a moment in my arms! I would rock Thee so gently, I would gaze on Thee with so much love, and Thou wouldst love me, wouldst Thou not? Would I were good, kind, gentle as Thou art, dear Holy Child! Help me to come to Thee in Heaven!

Little Litany of the Holy Child

Lord, have mercy on us.
Christ, have mercy on us.
Lord, have mercy on us.
Dear little Lord Jesus,
Come and bless us.

Baby Jesus, coming to Mary
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, born in a manger,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, announced by a star,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, adored by the angels,
Little Lord Jesus bless us.
Baby Jesus, seen by the shepherds,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, sought by the Wise Men,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, loved by Thy Mother,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, protected by Joseph,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.
Baby Jesus, blessing all men,
Little Lord Jesus, bless us.

O dear Lord God, Who became a little child for our sake, teach us to be meek and humble like the little Child of Bethlehem. Amen.

Prayer for My Parents

THOUGHT. Do you know, dear child, that there was no child more gentle, more obedient, more loving towards His parents than the Holy Child Jesus? You want to be like Him, do you not? for you love Him dearly. Then be kind and good as He was; He will love you still more if you are a loving child to your parents.

My God, I thank Thee for having given me such kind parents. I owe them so much and can give them nothing in return. But I can pray for them: bless them and give them all that can make them happy and help them to save their souls. O dear Holy Child Jesus, Thou wert the Sweet Little One, teach us to be gentle and humble as Thou wert, and to obey my dear father and my loving mother as well as I can. Amen.

Prayer for Brothers and Sisters

Almighty Father! We are Thy children, whom Thy divine Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, purchased with the price of His most Precious Blood, and whom Thy Holy Spirit sanctified: mercifully grant Thy grace to my brothers and sisters, that we, being united according to Thy will on earth, may praise Thee together in Thy glory. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

" Suffer the Little Children To Come Unto Me"
 (Mark 10 : 14)

I think when I read that sweet story of old,
When Jesus was here among men,
How He called little children, like lambs to His fold.
I should like to have been with Him then.

How I wish that His hands had been laid on my head,
And my arms had been thrown round His knee,
And that I might have seen His kind looks when He said.
"Let the little ones come unto Me."

Yet still to His foot stool in prayer I may go,
And ask for a share of His love;
And if I thus earnestly seek Him below,
I see Him and hear Him above.

In that beautiful place He has gone to prepare
For all who are washed and forgiven,
For many dear children are gathering there,
And of such is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Yet why should I think He's no longer on earth.
When He says, I am all days with you?
For sure, if He loves little children, like me,
Then His words must be simple and true.

No: He cannot deceive--His dear Mother I'll call,
And straight to His altar repair;
For they say He still dwells in that sweet holy place,
And an infant may worship Him there.

Laudate Pueri (Psalm 112)

Latin:

Laudate, pueri, Dominum, laudate nomen Domini: sit nomen Domini benedictum, ex hoc nunc et usque in saeculum. Auxilium meum a Domino, qui fecit caelum et terram. Benefac, Domine, bonis et rectis corde.
English:

Praise the Lord, ye children: praise ye the name of the Lord. Blessed be the name of the Lord, from henceforth now and for ever. My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Do good, O Lord, to those that are good, and to the upright of heart.
